Parttime | Economist

Position Summary

 AEDP’s is looking for an Economist to join our team in The Netherlands. The successful candidate will be ready to lead and will contribute to the planning and delivery of high-profile advisory projects for our key clients. We are looking for an agile individual who loves analysing and problem solving, and who values excellent client and customer service across the visitor attraction industry.


The team offers services including economic assessment (appraisals and impact assessment), business case development, financial and demand analysis, strategic advice, feasibility and pre-feasibility advice. You will be required to have competency in providing economically and culturally informed advisory services, including strong report production and analytical (including excel) skills, as well as a passion for developing good client relationships and winning work.


As an Economist in the AEDP team you will have relevant tertiary qualifications in economics, finance and/or leisure management disciplines, and have direct industry experience, ideally working within the visitor attractions industry, although the consulting sector may be suitable.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for working on the development and the production of commercial industry forecasts.
  • Must have econometric capabilities, an understanding of visitor attractions and regional markets, familiarity with forecasting, and the ability to work in database and programming environments.
  • Draft and prepare reports based on project outcomes.
  • Highly experienced professional with full project management authority and accountability for larger, more visible, more complex projects.
  • Demonstrates exceptional competence and achievement over sustained period in this field.
  • Strong proficiency in the economics of visitor attractions, preferably from the fields of finance, operations, or in-park spending.
  • Ability to develop and review economic and financial models and prepare reports for a variety of stakeholders.
  • Experience in leading teams to successfully deliver high-quality project outcomes.
  • Leadership support in business and strategic planning activities to identify opportunities to sustain the growth of the business in short, medium and longer term.
  • Ability to work as a member of multi-disciplinary teams, providing support to senior business leaders and leadership to junior staff, graduates and interns.
  • Project management activities will include seeking opportunities from clients and submitting proposals.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in related discipline is essential; Postgraduate qualifications are desirable as are other relevant professional training courses
  • Experience and technical proficiency in economic modelling and report preparation, ideally in a similar role
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to engage effectively with a stakeholders from different backgrounds
  • Strong presentation and organisational skills, and willingness to articulate analytical outcomes and options to clients, stakeholders and project team partners
  • Inclusive and good team player with the right mix of independent thinking and working effectively within the team, sharing knowledge, providing coaching, peer review and contributing to joint problem solving
  • Demonstrated interest in the entertainment and cultural attraction industries
  • Ability to develop clear and concise thoughts into proposals, reports, and presentations
  • Demonstrated strategic and creative thinking ability
  • Solid analytical problem solving skills
  • High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with quantitative analysis and financial modelling
  • 5+ years of experience in research, analytical, operations, consulting role within entertainment, tourism, hospitality, finance or real estate development preferred
  • English professional proficiency required, additional languages are a plus
  • Availability to work at least three days per week

Position Status Parttime – 24 to 32 hours per week

Financials: A Gross Salary of  10,000 AED per month inclusive of allowances, as well as a discretionary 6.75% year-end bonus. Paid vacation based on 4x the amount of hours per week worked in the past 12 months.

Virtual: Open, international travel is required.
